Project Description
Period Cottage Kitchen & Dining Area
Having worked on lighting the gardens of many period and Listed properties, ogl is often asked to tackle interior lighting jobs as well.
This is probably because the wiring in these older properties is normally complex to say the least, and our experienced electricians have to fully understand the existing interior electrical systems in order to install lighting outside.
In this case, re-lighting the kitchen and dining area involved stripping out a lot of old, partially broken track lighting from the kitchen, then taking up many of the floor boards in the bedrooms and bathroom upstairs in order to access the old wiring.
ogl then designed and installed a completely new lighting plan, consisting of super-shallow, directional downlights of different beam angles (for different lighting tasks), all controlled by a new bank of dimmers, so the clients could create exactly the sort of ambience they required for any occasion.
I was fortunate enough to find Ornamental Garden Lighting a few years ago. Mike Shackleton’s guidance and expertise was incredibly sympathetic to our garden lighting installation within the grounds of a Listed cottage where fittings, location and the implication of light pollution had to be considered very carefully. The installation team of electricians, landscapers and ground-workers took great care in a well-established garden.
As time has progressed we have contracted OGL to carry out updates to the exterior lighting and carry out several interior installations within the 16th Century cottage. We cannot recommend the quality of the work and expertise highly enough and arguably more importantly, the efficient backup service supplied by the whole workforce of this exemplary company.
